About this place
A fragrant plate of pork shogayaki arrives generously coated in a thick, sweet-savory ginger sauce. Situated in Suginami Ward’s Horinouchi neighborhood, Iida is an unpretentious, old-school teishoku eatery where straightforward daily meals take center stage. Beyond ginger pork, the menu offers a solid selection of comforting classics, including dashi-simmered katsudon, oyakodon, and vegetable stir-fry sets built for hearty appetites.
When in the mood for grilled fish, the dried mackerel (saba) set and horse mackerel (aji) are dependable choices. Seasoned with just the right touch of salt, the fish comes alongside miso soup, pickles, and natto garnished with chopped scallions, evoking the reassuring routine of a home-cooked meal. Diners can also round out their tray with small à la carte plates such as rolled omelet (tamagoyaki), chilled tofu, or grated daikon topped with whitebait.
The compact dining area holds just a row of counter seats facing the kitchen, where the proprietress cooks each order right before you. The quiet, relaxed atmosphere makes it easy to dine solo without hesitation, whether stopping by for a midday lunch or settling in for an unhurried, freshly prepared weeknight dinner.
